The United Arab Emirates has temporarily suspended the issuance of new visas to 13 Muslim-majority countries, including Pakistan and Afghanistan, citing security concerns. A source familiar with the matter told Reuters on Wednesday.
The source did not elaborate on the UAE’s particular concerns. However, the issue of issuing visas for a short period of time has been mentioned.
Pakistan’s The Dawn Online also confirmed the matter. Last week, the country’s foreign ministry said the UAE would not issue visas to citizens of several countries, including Pakistani nationals. Now they will want to give specific reasons for the visa ban from the country. However, they believe that the issuance of visas may have been stopped due to the Corona epidemic.

However, those who have a visa can travel to the country. Only new visas will be issued.
Other countries on the UAE’s visa ban list include Iran, Syria, Somalia, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Kenya, Iraq, Lebanon, Algeria, Tunisia and Turkey.
The UAE authorities did not say whether there were any exceptions to the visa ban.
