The government has approved Beximco Pharmaceuticals to import and distribute the Indian version of the Oxford-AstraZeneca corona vaccine, Covishield, for emergency use.
As a result of this approval, Beximco Pharmaceuticals will be able to import the vaccine and distribute it to government and non-government organizations in the country.
Today, Thursday, the Deputy Director of the Department of Drug Administration (DGDA). Salauddin has confirmed the matter.
“By allowing emergency use, they will be able to provide the vaccine to public and private hospitals or to any vaccination program,” he told The Daily Star.
Md. “Since the UK’s Medicines and Health Care Product Regulatory Agency (MHRA) approved the vaccine for emergency use, we have been able to approve it,” Salauddin said.
Earlier, a meeting of the 14-member expert committee at the DGDA this afternoon recommended for its urgent approval.
