Bangladesh has left India far behind in per capita income

In FY 2020-21, India’s per capita income is 1,947 which is much lower than Bangladesh.

With a per capita income of, 2,227 in the 2020-21 fiscal year, Bangladesh has surpassed neighboring India in the main economic index.

According to the Indian Express, the country’s per capita income for the fiscal year 2020-21 is 1,947, which is much lower than Bangladesh. But even in 2008, Bangladesh’s per capita income was half that of India.

The report noted that India’s economic growth has been severely hampered by the Covid-19 epidemic and lockdown.

Earlier, in October 2020, the average per capita income of a Bangladeshi citizen would exceed the average per capita income of an Indian citizen, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said.

During a cabinet meeting on May 16, Planning Minister MA Mannan said Bangladesh’s per capita income had risen from 2,064 to 2,227 equivalent to about Tk 1,88,873.

In this regard, Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam told the media, “In the fiscal year 2020-21, our per capita income has increased to 2,227. So the growth rate is 9% compared to the previous year. ”

He said the per capita income has been calculated at Tk 1 lakh 88 thousand 873 for every one US dollar at Tk 84.81.

Besides, according to preliminary data, the GDP of Bangladesh has increased from Tk 27 lakh 96 thousand 354 crore to Tk 30 lakh 87 thousand 300 crore.
