According to a recent UK study, sleeping between 10pm and 11pm is best for the body. The new study is published in the European Heart Journal. A seven-day survey was conducted on more than 6,000 people aged 43 to 69. Using an accelerometer, they monitor when they go to sleep and when they wake up. Volunteers are also subjected to various physical examinations and health assessments.
Research shows that those who go to bed between 10pm and 11pm are more likely to have a heart attack than those who sleep between 10pm and 11pm. Women are more likely to have a heart attack when they go to bed.
Getting enough sleep and getting the right amount of sleep at the right time is key.
Lack of sleep leads to hypertension, obesity and diabetes. Researchers have previously suggested that a healthy person get seven to eight hours of sleep a night. Recently, the risk of having a heart attack has been linked to the time you go to bed.
The author of the study and senior lecturer in organizational neuroscience at the University of Exeter. “Our research suggests that the best time to go to sleep is at certain points in the body’s 24-hour cycle, and that deviations can be detrimental,” said David Plans. However, sleeping between 10 pm and 11 pm does not apply to everyone. This requires more research.
