Community based protection (CBP) is a community-based approaches for strengthening the protection by supporting local resources, identifying protection gaps and capacity development.

How does the CBP approach/mechanism works in the Rohingya refugee context?

Community based protection approach in Rohingya camps needed to ensure that they are living in a safe, secure and dignified environment and support for the most vulnerable. 

Rohingya refugees are high risk of protection threat inside the camps including trafficking risks, child protection issues and gender-based violence. Especially women and girls get very limited access to basic services. They need urgent community based and individual protection responses as well as are needed to access basic services for persons with specific needs.
