Community Coordinator Role, Key Areas of Engagement, Challenges

Role as the Community Coordinator in terms of engagement with the donor- 

  • Community Coordinator will create, execute and support a comprehensive donor acknowledgment plan to support the Community Based Protection (CBP) project. 
  • Maintain information-tracking process, ongoing communications across all the aspects of the project.
  • Coordinate the well-timed preparation of strategic written and electronic communication in support of donor relations and acknowledgments.
  • Establish and maintain regular invitations to donors and prospects for meetings and community events.
  • Actively engage in community group coordination through planning, designing, volunteer management.

Key areas of engagement for smooth management of the project- 

  • Planning, designing, monitoring, evaluating and implementing the project activities. 
  • Support the community groups members, motivate the groups members, organizing meetings regularly, conducting capacity building workshops, designing volunteer service projects and developing plan for project smooth implementation.
  • Addressing gaps and needs and ensuring efficient referral and case management of the community groups. 
  • Building and effective network with other agencies. 

Challenges of making community groups operational and sustaining them

  1. Time management- Sometimes it’s a great challenge to make participate all the listed group member to attend in a meeting or event timely. 
  2. Group member reluctance- The group members doesn’t want to keep active in the group sessions if they find any other places offering attractive packages for them.  
  3. Security threats- Security threats inside the community can demotivate the community group members in attending in a group task. 
  4. Attracting new members- It’s always a challenging part to attract and engaging new members in a group. 

How the challenges could be addressed?

  • Utilizing the active members and motivating volunteers to support each other and mobilizing towards time management. 
  • Welcome the group member with snacks or foods or necessary accessories when attending in a group event. 
  • Hold the community event as and when necessary understanding the community situations.
  • Mobilizing the new members by proposing them the benefits of the group.
