Interview Question answer for NGO Projects!

Do not miss this questions and answer while you are going to give interview for a NGO Project. These are very common questions that are often asked by the interviewer.

Question 1

Tell us about a particularly difficult client that you’ve had to manage. Who were they? What was the project? What was your role? What was the challenge?  How did you overcome the challenge?

Most recently I have worked for the Rohingya Refugee Support Programme. One of my major roles was Program planning, budgeting and implementation, identifying new programming opportunities, joint implementation mechanisms and mobilising resources.

When working for the Rohingya community we had to manage several different Government organizations and partners and vendors.

During the initial stage of the Rohingya crisis we had to make contracts with different partners for implementing major needs of the displaced people. Among them one of the partners was delaying to initiate a health service programme in the crisis area. We had done an advance payment to them already. The partner was showing different challenges to us where other partners were overcoming the challenges very smoothly.

The challenges were to establish medical facilities in the camp along with health Sector  guideline in short time and supply chain management of medical equipment, medicines regularly as emergency response,  so coordination of procurement along with programme demand quality with proper monitoring for dynamic response was the biggest challenge.

However, as I was playing a major leading role for the programme so I have been able to manage the situation very successfully. I have had meetings with them several times, noted down their problems, connected them with other partners, helped them to solve the problem in the field level and keep monitoring them.

Specific problems they were facing was Government approval and location of placing the temporary medical camp.

Continuous Coordination and following guidelines with resources mobilization and running effective team work along with the government authorities at cox’s bazar and in the camp was the most valid solution to overcome the challenge in short time to implement the project success.

Question 2

Tell us about a challenge you faced while leading a team. How big was the team? What were you trying to accomplish? Who was (were) the problem element(s)? What was the challenge? How did you overcome the challenge?

As a Programme Officer and acting coordinator in my last Organization I have managed a big team of 15 members. I was trying to accomplish several programme activities for Rohingya refugees covering the Health, WASH, Shelter, Education, Child Protection and Protection sector.

In my team we had 3 Project Officers to monitor the field programme activities. One of our Project Officers delayed every time to reach the field and did not submit the project report on time. For this behaviour of the Officer, the team suffered a lot as compilation of the field report was indeed.

I always believe that working as a team brings great success for any activities. Challenges are everywhere and overcoming the challenges successfully is must to keep running the team.

I have met with the Officer a couple of times and tried to pull the problem he is facing for doing this job. I tried to make him understand how the whole project is suffering.

I have discovered after meeting with him that he is suffering for some mental problems. So I allow him to take a few days to refresh his mind. And it worked. After the leave he continued his job with full attention and I always tried to make a good connection with all of my team members to run the project well.
