Indian company Biotech wants to test their coronavirus vaccine in Bangladesh. They have recently applied for this. An official of the Bangladesh Medical Research Council told Reuters.
Mahmud-uz-Jahan, director of the Bangladesh Medical Research Council, told Reuters that they had received such a proposal from Bharat Biotech. Their ethics committee will review the application.
A source at the International Center for Diarrhea Research, Bangladesh (ICDDRB) also told Reuters that India had applied for the vaccine test on behalf of Biotech. However, the ICDDRB declined to comment. No statement was received from the spokesperson of Bharat Biotech.
In this regard, the head of the Ethics Committee of the Bangladesh Medical Research Council, National Professor. Shahla Khatun told BBC Bangla that the application for a trial with the Indian company’s vaccine would come to their committee. There they will give their opinion on the matter after examination. However, the final decision will be taken by the concerned authorities of the government.
