Brazil and Argentina game scheduled on June 11 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) Stadium. The Victorian government confirmed the matter on Wednesday.
Victoria’s Sports Minister Martin Pakula announced on Wednesday that the Superclasico match would be played on Saturday, June 11 at the MCG.
Local media outlets The Age and Sydney Morning Herald reported that two of the team’s best stars, Lionel Messi and Neymar, could be in attendance. They are also expecting all possible stars to be present.
Five years ago, Argentina beat Brazil 1-0 in a friendly match at this stadium in Melbourne. More than 95,000 audience were present on the field in that match. The local government is hoping that something like this will happen again in the presence of Messi and Neymar.
Brazil and Argentina last met in Qatar’s World Cup qualifiers in Sao Paulo last September. But five minutes after the start of the match, four Argentine players were accused by the Brazilian Department of Health of violating the Corona ban. The match was then postponed by the South American football governing body Conmebol.
Tickets for the match between Brazil and Argentina will go on sale on April 21 at 2pm via Ticketek Australia.
