BIRDEM (Bangladesh Institute of Research and Rehabilitation in Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders) is the first institute in Bangladesh focused on diabetes, endocrine and metabolic diseases. In spite of primary focus on diabetes care, it is now taking care of patients of all disciplines. This is the reason the hospital is now named BIRDEM General Hospital. At present, It is a 16-storied building with nearly 600 beds.
