Dhaka to Rangpur Bus List, Counter Number, Ticket Price, Booking

Buses run from Dhaka to Rangpur all day and night. The main operators are Hanif Enterprise, Shyamoli NR Travels, Nabil Paribahan, SR Travels, Ena Transport, Agomoni Express, Dipjol Enterprise, Manik Express and Royal Coach. The trip is about 294 to 297 km and usually takes 7 to 9 hours. Since the fare revision of 22 September 2026, the government fare for an ordinary 51-seat bus from Mohakhali to Rangpur is about Tk 741 including tolls. AC and luxury coaches charge more, because those fares are set by the operators.
This route also has an official fare number, which most competing pages do not use. The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) published new intercity fares after diesel rose to Tk 135 per litre. I walk through that below, and then the operators, counters and how to choose.
Note: Information on this page is compiled from publicly available sources and third-party information, including news reports, booking platforms and blogs. Minciter has not independently verified every detail. Fares, schedules and phone numbers change often, so confirm important details with the operator, a booking platform or BRTA before you travel.

A 2026 fare page says buses from several operators leave every 10 minutes from Dhaka’s terminals. Another source puts frequency at every 30 to 60 minutes. Neither is an operator schedule, so treat both as rough.
Bus Ticket Price and the Official BRTA Fare
Short answer: The official fare for an ordinary 51-seat bus from Mohakhali to Rangpur is about Tk 741 including tolls. A 40-seat bus is about Tk 945. AC and luxury coaches are priced by the operator.
Here is the background. The government raised the price of diesel by Tk 20 per litre on 20 September 2026. On 22 September it raised diesel bus fares by Tk 0.17 per kilometre. A local news report on the new BRTA list says the base rate is now Tk 2.40 per kilometre, with bridge, ferry and other tolls added on top. The Jamuna Bridge is one of those tolls for northern routes.
The same report gives the Rangpur figures:
| Bus | Distance | Fare including tolls (September 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary 51-seat, Mohakhali to Rangpur | 297 km | Tk 741 |
| Ordinary 40-seat, Mohakhali to Rangpur | 297 km | About Tk 945 |
A quick check of my own: 297 km at Tk 2.40 is about Tk 713, so tolls seem to account for roughly Tk 28. That is my calculation, not a BRTA figure.
An earlier BRTA chart, from the April 2026 fuel increase, listed Gabtoli to Rangpur at Tk 751 for a 51-seat bus and Tk 911 for a 40-seat bus. Do not compare that with the Mohakhali figure above. They are different terminals, different dates and different rates. BRTA says it updated its Gabtoli chart on 22 September 2026, so if you board at Gabtoli, check that sheet at https://www.brta.gov.bd.
For AC coaches, I found no official cap. Older third-party lists put AC fares at about Tk 1,000 to Tk 1,200 and non-AC at about Tk 500. A 2025 to 2026 blog gives luxury buses Tk 800 to Tk 1,200 and standard buses Tk 500 to Tk 700. Those predate the September increase. BDTickets shows fares from Tk 700 for Rangpur to Dhaka.
The government has warned operators that overcharging can cost them their route permits, and buses must display the revised fare chart. After the April increase, some passengers on other routes reported paying above the chart. If a conductor asks for more than the posted fare on an ordinary bus, ask to see the chart.
AC vs Non-AC
| Factor | Non-AC | AC |
|---|---|---|
| Fare | Government-regulated for ordinary buses | Set by the operator, usually higher |
| Comfort | Basic seating | Cooler cabin, reclining seats |
| Availability | More departures, easier last-minute seats | Fewer seats, sells out earlier |
| Best for | Budget travelers, short notice | Long trips, summer, overnight travel |
On a trip of 7 to 9 hours, comfort matters more than it does on a short route. If you can afford it, AC is worth considering in the hot months. In winter the gap matters less.
Dhaka to Rangpur Bus Schedule
There is no single timetable. Buses run through the day and into the night from multiple Dhaka terminals. I found no reliable operator-by-operator schedule, and I did not want to invent one. The rough pattern is a bus every 30 to 60 minutes in the daytime, with night coaches leaving in the evening so you arrive in the morning.
Departure times change by date and demand. Confirm your exact time and boarding counter when you book.
Distance and Journey Time
Short answer: About 294 to 297 km and roughly 7 to 9 hours.
BDTickets lists 294 km and 7 to 9 hours. BRTA uses 297 km from Mohakhali. A driving-distance site gives about 293 km. Another blog says roughly 330 km, which looks high next to the official figure.
Some aggregators show 4.5 to 5 hours. Those listings are old and do not match what booking platforms and travel guides report, so I would not plan around them.
What affects time: leaving Dhaka, the approach to the Jamuna Bridge, weather, holidays and where the driver stops for meals. Add extra time at Eid.
Boarding Points and Phone Numbers
Dhaka terminals that appear in counter lists for Rangpur are Gabtoli, Mohakhali, Saidabad, Shyamoli, Kalyanpur, Kalabagan and Fakirapool. In Rangpur, Kamarpara bus stand appears in several lists.
| Operator | Dhaka numbers (reported) | Rangpur numbers (reported) |
|---|---|---|
| Hanif Enterprise | Hotline: 01755-538881. Gabtoli: 01713-201716. Shyamoli: 01713-049575. Shyamoli Ring Road: 01713-402639, 01713-049532 | 01713-402646, 01713-402650 |
| Shyamoli NR Travels | No Dhaka number found | Ordinary: 01797-876200, 01720-498202. AC: 01755-357272, 01865-068961 |
| Nabil Paribahan | No Dhaka number found | 01720-993510. Another page lists 01714-619173 |
| Agomoni Express | No Dhaka number found | 01911-416861 (Kamarpara) |
| Royal Coach | Arambagh: 01971-396330, 01872-723203. Shyamoli: 01872-723209. Kamalapur: 01971-396331 | Depot: 01732-365840 |
| SR Travels, Ena, Dipjol, Manik Express, Bablu | Not found | Not found |
These numbers come from third-party blogs, and several pages are older. The Shyamoli NR Rangpur numbers date from a 2018 page, though 01865-068961 also appears on a 2026 fare page. Another Hanif list gives Gabtoli as 01713-201722, so Hanif’s Gabtoli number is not settled. The hotline is the safest starting point. For the others, confirm the number on your booking page or call before you go.
How to Book a Dhaka to Rangpur Bus Ticket
Two widely used platforms are Shohoz (https://www.shohoz.com) and BDTickets (https://www.bdtickets.com). Hanif also has its own booking site at https://www.hanif-enterprise.com. The steps are similar everywhere:
- Choose your travel date.
- Select Dhaka as the departure point and Rangpur as the destination.
- Compare operators, coach types and prices.
- Pick your seat.
- Check which Dhaka counter the bus leaves from.
- Enter passenger details and pay.
- Save the ticket or SMS confirmation.
Compare the price on screen with the BRTA fare for ordinary buses. Cancellation and refund rules differ by operator and platform, so read them before you pay.
How to Choose a Bus
- Tightest budget: an ordinary bus at the regulated fare, roughly Tk 741 from Mohakhali for a 51-seat bus
- Long trip, more comfort: an AC or Scania coach, ideally an overnight departure so you arrive rested
- Traveling from north Dhaka: Mohakhali or Gabtoli may save you time compared with Saidabad
- Last-minute travel: the terminals with many operators, such as Gabtoli
Also check the boarding counter before you pay. Several operators use more than one terminal.
Train Alternative
The Rangpur Express (train 771 and 772) runs between Dhaka and Rangpur. Wikipedia lists 405 km and about 10 hours, with the daytime train leaving Dhaka at 09:00 and arriving at 19:00, and a night train leaving Rangpur at 20:00 and arriving in Dhaka at 06:05. Each direction has a different weekly day off. Timings change, so check the Bangladesh Railway e-ticket site at https://eticket.railway.gov.bd. The train is slower than the bus but offers sleeper and AC options. I did not research flights for this route.
Practical Tips
- Arrive at the counter 20 to 30 minutes before departure with ID and your ticket on your phone.
- Ask whether your bus is ordinary or AC. Regulated fares apply only to ordinary diesel buses.
- Confirm luggage rules. I found no standard policy.
- At Eid, expect higher demand and longer travel time.
- Keep the fare chart in mind if you buy at the counter.
