No official registry of every operator exists, so this list comes from a May 2026 local news portal guide, fare pages and booking platforms.

Bus Ticket Price and the September 2026 Fare Increase
Short answer: Before 22 September 2026, ordinary non-AC buses were reported at Tk 500 to Tk 555. After the increase, expect roughly Tk 40 to Tk 45 more on the same seat, plus tolls.
Here is what happened. Diesel went up by Tk 20 per litre to Tk 135 on 20 September 2026. On 22 September the government raised fares for diesel buses by Tk 0.17 per kilometre, according to The Daily Star, New Age and bdnews24. The Financial Express reported that the long-haul rate rises from Tk 2.23 to Tk 2.40 per kilometre. The new rule applies only to ordinary diesel buses, and operators must display the revised chart inside the bus.
Reports also say road and bridge tolls are added to the base fare, and that BRTA would publish route-by-route charts. I did not find a published Dhaka to Barisal figure, so check the BRTA site.
Here is my own estimate, not an official number. Using the 247 km distance from BDTickets, Tk 2.40 per km comes to about Tk 593 before tolls. Tk 2.23 per km on the same distance comes to about Tk 551, which matches the Tk 500 to Tk 555 non-AC range from May 2026. That suggests the estimate is reasonable.

AC fares are set by the owners, and the minister warned operators that overcharging could cost them route permits. Do not assume an AC fare rose by exactly Tk 42.
A warning about foreign booking sites: one lists Green Line Standard AC at Tk 2,591. That is an international platform price with markup. Book through a local platform or the operator.

The fare hike applies to ordinary buses, so the price gap may narrow slightly. Neither option is better for everyone.
Dhaka to Barisal Bus Schedule
There is no single timetable. The May 2026 portal guide describes the pattern: from around 5:00 AM, buses leave Sayedabad, Gabtoli and Fulbaria roughly every 30 minutes. Night coaches run from about 8:00 PM, with the last departures around 11:45 PM. Green Line and BRTC AC services usually leave around 7:30 AM, 10:00 AM, 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM. I could not verify those against operator schedules, so treat them as a guide.
Booking platforms sometimes show overnight departures arriving early morning, for example 22:30 to 07:00. That is longer than the Padma Bridge route needs, so confirm the actual route and stops.
Distance and Journey Time
Short answer: Roughly 4 to 6 hours, with a clear run possible in 3 to 4.
BDTickets lists 247 km and 4 to 6 hours. A local news portal says the trip now takes 3 to 4 hours. Another aggregator lists 500 km and up to 8.5 hours, which does not match the Padma Bridge route, so ignore it.
Add time for Dhaka traffic, holidays and rain. The bridge section is fast. The slow parts are usually getting out of Dhaka and into Barisal.

Launch owners have asked for a 51 to 60 percent fare increase after the diesel hike, and some are reported to have raised fares already. Confirm the current launch fare with the operator. Flight prices come from an aggregator, so check with the airline.

- Expect higher fares and slower roads at Eid.
