Easy Recipe of Dum Biryani at Home

Dum Biryani Recipe

Dum biryani is a yummy dish, cooked using mutton which is first marinated and added to half-cooked polao rice and then cooked on low flame.

Ingredients:

  • Basmati rice 1 kg,
  • mutton 2 kg,
  • ginger paste 2 tablespoons,
  • garlic paste 1 tablespoon,
  • cinnamon 3-4,
  • green cardamom 8-10,
  • black cardamom 4-5,
  • cloves half a teaspoon,
  • Aadi Mace Powder 1 tea Spoon,
  • nutmeg half teaspoon,
  • sour curd 1 cup,
  • ghee 3-4 cup,
  • cumin half teaspoon,
  • potato 3-4,
  • onion powder 1 cup,
  • salt to taste
  • pinch of saffron,
  • Common plum 10-12 (Alu Bokhra)
  • flour 2 cups.

How to make

  • Soak the rice in water. Wash the meat and soak it with salt for 15 to 20 minutes. Then wash again and drain the water. Grind all the spices including dried chillies, cinnamon, cardamom, cumin, cloves, mace, nutmeg.
  • Put meat, ginger paste, garlic paste, powdered spices and sour curd in a pot and leave it for 30 minutes.
  • In another pot, boil 6 cups of water and add rice. When the rice boils a little, drain the water and put it in a pot.
  • Mix saffron in mid hot water. Mix ghee in the hot rice water. In the meat pot add fried potatoes, onions, common plum and half mixed ghee rice water one by one. Pour the saffron mixture over the rice and add the remaining hot water mixed with ghee.
  • Now mix the flour with water and use it to close the mouth of the pot so that there is no little gap. Cook over medium heat for one to one and half hours.

Now serve this yummy Dum Biryani with kebabs and chutney.
