Benefits

Castor oil made from castor seeds. Castor oil contains Vitamin E, Minerals, Protein and essential fatty acids which are quite beneficial in hair care. This oil is also used to relieve temporary constipation, reduce acne, promote wound healing and act as a moisturizer for skin.

Plant type

The castor plant grows fast, achieves height of six feet or more in just three months and the maximum height can be up to 12 meters. The leaves of this tree are very large and star type in shape. The plant have some similarities with the papaya tree. The leaves are green and have tall stems.

Flowers and Fruits

Usually in the rainy season, the plant grow from the seedlings and in the winter the flower blooms and fruit appears. At the top of the plant the reddish flowers blooms. Fruits are green in color. About 3 to 4 seeds within a fruit.

Cultivation method

-Castor plant farming cost effective and easier. It can be produced at low cost around the house, but be aware of the child or pet.

-Generally this plant is grown from seeds. Before sowing this seed soak the seed in a glass of water for 24-hour. It is important to use filtered or pure water instead of tap water.

-Seed should sown in 1 inch deep and at least 3 feet away. The soil should kept moisture. When two leaves appear in the seedlings then replant those in garden or large container. During sowing in the garden, keep careful that the saplings are being set 3 feet away. Some compost should kept in the planting hole.

-Castro’s plant always likes little moist soil. The soil should be rich in organic fertilizers and be careful that water drained properly. This plant can grow in many types of soil. Organic fertilizer should given once a month.

-The suitable temperature for the cultivation of castor is 77-86 degrees Fahrenheit (25-30 degrees Celsius).

-Pruning is not required for this plant.
