Brazil reached top in point table, then Argentina

Five-time world champions Brazil have risen to the top of the Latin American points table after beating Venezuela in a World Cup qualifier. They won 1-0 at the Morumbi Stadium in Sao Paulo on Saturday morning. Roberto Firmino scored the winning goal for Brazil.

Although several players, including Neymar, did not play in the match due to injuries and corona, Brazil continued to play aggressive football from the beginning. Gabriel Jesus sent the ball into the Venezuelan net in the eighth minute of the match. However, the goal was canceled for offside.

Firmino’s great shot from a distance in the 29th minute was blocked by Venezuela goalkeeper Farines in exchange for a corner. Four minutes later, Brazil missed the chance to score.

Brazil made a great start even after the break. However, they have to wait for 7 minutes to see the goal. Liverpool forward Firmino gave Brazil a 1-0 lead after Venezuela defender Osorio missed the ball.

Despite getting multiple chances in the end, Brazil without Neymar could not increase the gap.

As a result of this victory, Brazil has risen to the top of the points list in the Latin American region with 9 points in three matches. Messi’s Argentina is in the second place with 6 points. Ecuador is at number three with 6 points.
