Polish referee Szymon Marciniak will take charge the 2022 World Cup final
FIFA has announced the referee for the Argentina-France final. In a statement on Thursday, FIFA said that Poland’s Szymon Marciniak will manage the match in next Sunday’s final.
41-year-old Marciniak has managed both Argentina and France in this World Cup. This Polish was the referee in Argentina-Australia in the last sixteen and France-Denmark in the group stage. Marciniak will be assisted by compatriots Pavel Sokolnitsky and Tamas Listkiewicz in the final.
Marchiniak, who was named to the list of FIFA referees in 2011, got the opportunity to officiate Europa League matches that year. Marciniak, who made his Champions League debut the following year, managed three matches at Euro 2016.
Marciniak, who served as the first referee at the age of 21, conducted the Argentina-Iceland and Germany-Sweden matches in the 2018 Russia World Cup with two assistants in this year’s final. Marciniak, who once played football as an amateur, was given the responsibility of officiating the World Cup final as Poland’s first referee.
