WhatsApp can save auto-deleted messages.
WhatsApp introduced Disappearing Messages feature in 2020 to automatically delete sent messages after a certain period of time. Enabling this feature allows you to set a time to delete messages before they are sent. But many WhatsApp users did not like this feature.
According to them, messages sent using the Disappearing Messages feature often contain important information or e-mail addresses, which are still needed after a certain period of time. But the messages are automatically deleted so the information cannot be used when needed. To solve this problem of users, WhatsApp has launched the ‘Keep in Chat’ facility to save automatically deleted messages.
Recipients can automatically save deleted messages using this feature called Keep in Chat. But this must allow saving of specific messages from the sender. That is, automatically deleted messages cannot be saved without the sender’s permission.
According to WhatsApp, enabling Keep in Chat will let the sender know when the recipient bookmarks or chooses to save a message. If the sender allows saving the message, the message will appear in the recipient’s chat box after a certain period of time. As a result, one or more messages sent through disappearing messages can be read at any time.
Note that currently WhatsApp has three options for automatically deleting messages: 24 hours, 7 and 90 days. Selecting either time will delete the sent message after the specified time.
