Pregnancy counting days starts from the first day of last menstrual period. Its consists 40-week duration. When the mother’s ovum (egg) is fertilised by the father’s sperm then conception happens. The date of conception is unknown that is why the pregnancy start date count from first day of last menstrual period. Generally, after two weeks of last period the conception may take place. This why the baby remains in your womb for 38 weeks instead of 40 weeks.
Doctor suggests you a date of labor examining your baby health, weight and other indicators. Though the labor can start before and after the due time. You give birth a baby when the baby become ready to come. You need to be patient and very careful when you are pregnant.
Pregnancy can divide into three trimesters-
- First trimester – conception to 13 weeks
- Second trimester – 14 to 26 weeks
- Third trimester – 27 to 40 weeks.
