For the people of the country, winter means the season of travel. Every year in the winter season i.e. November, December, January nature regains its traditional dazzling beauty.

Infatuated with that beauty, travel to tourist spots all over the country takes place. This year, the winter wind has lasted for a month.

In the meantime, the travelers are out and about. Find out which places to visit in the country this winter –

Cox’s Bazar beach

Cox’s Bazar is the longest beach in the world. This 120 km long beach is full of tourists throughout the year. The rough waves of the ocean make anyone feel good. You can spend the whole day looking at the sea.

Now Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar can be reached directly by road and air. Most tourists go to Cox’s Bazar by bus from Dhaka’s Fakirapool, Kalabagan, Sayedabad. It takes 8-10 hours to go.

Bangladesh Biman Airlines, US Bangla, NovoAir operate more than 20 daily flights to Cox’s Bazar from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Among them, NovoAir has started direct flights on Jessore-Cox’s Bazar route on November 30.

As a result, tourists can go to Cox’s Bazar in less than an hour. Besides, the train connection from Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar will start in June next year. Then you can go to Cox’s Bazar easily and in less time by rail.

Saint Martin Island

Saint Martin is the only coral island in Bangladesh. Coconut is known as Jinjira to the locals. The location of this small island of only 17 square kilometers in the southernmost part of the mainland of Bangladesh is 120 kilometers from the district town of Cox’s Bazar.

On the one side, the endless blue horizon of the fennel sea merges, on the other hand, the simple life surrounded by rows of coconut trees draws the wanderlust closer with irresistible attraction.

If you want to go to Saint Martin, you have to go to Cox’s Bazar first from Dhaka. From there the ship named Karnaphuli Express departs for Saint Martin from Nunyarchhara BIWTA wharf.

This service has been launched since October 6. Besides, there is another cruise ship named ‘MV Bay One’ plying between Chittagong-Saint Martin. Earlier it was possible to go to Saint Martin by cruise ship from Teknaf.

However, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism has decided to stop the Teknaf-Saint Martin sea route due to shelling on the Myanmar border and divers seen in different parts of the Naf River last September.

Kuakata

Kuakata Beach is the most popular tourist spot in Bangladesh for watching the sunrise and sunset. This 18 km long beach is located in Latachapali Union under Kalapara Police Station of Patuakhali District.

Although not as posh as Cox’s Bazar, its quiet beaches and mangrove forests make Kuakata unique.

The way to go from Dhaka to Kuakata is by river and road. Before this, everyone used to go to Kuakata via Patuakhali or Barisal by bus from Dhaka’s Sadarghat.

Then it would take half an hour by boat and bus. But now due to Padma Bridge, Kuakata can be reached directly by bus in just 5 hours.

Sundarbans

The largest mangrove forest in the world has been developed with Khulna, Satkhira, Barguna, Bagerhat, Patuakhali in Bangladesh and some parts of India.

Recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, this forest is home to a variety of wildlife. Due to the beautiful trees that grow here, this main habitat of the Royal Bengal Tiger has got world fame as Sundarbans.

If you want to visit here, you must take the permission and the security guard along with the fee prescribed by the forest department. Launches and small ships are the only means of exploring all its sights.

Sundarbans usually everyone went to Khulna or Mongla. But due to the opening of the Padma Bridge, now thousands of people of the country can travel to the Sundarbans by road.

Lauachara National Park

1250 hectare Lauachhara National Park is located in Kamalganj and partly Srimangal in Moulvibazar district. Known as the tropical rain forest of the country, this national park is a unique sign of aesthetic beauty full of biodiversity.

Lauachhara is home to 460 species of rare plants, 20 species of mammals, 6 species of reptiles and 240 species of birds. It is particularly famous for being the largest migration area for the nearly extinct owl. One can travel from Dhaka to Srimangal by train or bus to Lauachhara.

Kutubdia Island

If you want to see the lighthouse in Bangladesh, you have to go to this island of Kutubdia, a small upazila of Cox’s Bazar district. The ruins of the ancient lighthouse here still tell the story of the old history at low tide.

This small island of 216 square kilometers has a secluded beach and the shrine of Qutb Auliya. This place is famous for the only wind power plant in Bangladesh and natural salt cultivation.

To travel to this island you have to come from Cox’s Bazar first to Chakaria bus stand. From there, reach Magnama Ghat by CNG and take an engine boat to go down to Qutubdia channel. And this Kutubdia channel will reach Kutubdia island.

Monpura Island

This isolated land in Bhola district is Manpura Island, a favorite tourist spot for sunrise-sunset and deer watching. Manpura Landing Station, located 500 meters inside the Meghna River, is thronged by local people and tourists from afternoon to night.

On the island tour, visitors also visit the Chowdhury Project’s fish enclosures and extensive coconut groves. Manpura Island is the best place for cycling along the river or camping amidst greenery.

To go to Manpura Island, you have to board the launch from Dhaka’s Sadarghat at 5 pm. Besides, you can reach Manpura Island by C-Truck from Dhaka via Bhola to Tajumuddin Ghat. C truck departure time is 3 pm.

Nijhum Island

This small island surrounded by the Bay of Bengal in the Hatia area of Noakhali has an area of about 14,500 acres. During the winter season, the entire Nijhum Island is filled with visiting birds. The best attraction here is Chitra Harin.
Nowhere else in the country can you see so many deers together. The breathtaking view of sunrise and sunset can be enjoyed from Nama Bazar Beach of Nijhum Island.

No matter which vehicle is used by road, to go to Nijhum Island you have to reach Chairman Ghat first. C-Trucks or trawlers going to Hatia will drop them at Nalchira Ghat.

Now you have to reach Mokhtaria Ghat at the other end of Hatiya by motorcycle. From there, ride a trawler to Nijhum Island. But the best way is to take the Hatiyar launch from Dhaka’s Sadarghat. After reaching Hatia, trawlers to Nijhum Island can be found directly from Tamurddi Ghat.

Rema-Kalenga Sanctuary

Rema-Kalenga, the second largest natural forest area in Bangladesh, is located in Chunarughat Upazila of Habiganj District, Sylhet. This forest area of about 1,795 hectares was recognized as a wildlife sanctuary in 1982.

It is home to about 638 species of plants, about 62 species of animals and about 167 species of birds. The sanctuary has 3 beautiful trails, a tall observation tower to get a glimpse of the entire forest.

Shaistaganj in Habiganj by bus or train from Dhaka and ride on TomTom to the new bridge. From there take CNG to Chunarughat Madhya Bazar and take another CNG to Kalenga Bazar. Then 10 to 15 minutes walk to the main gate of the sanctuary.

Malnichhara tea garden

The largest and first established tea garden in the subcontinent is the Malnichara tea garden in Sylhet. In 1849, under the supervision of Lord Hardson, this tea garden was built on an area of 1,500 acres.

Although currently under private supervision, the tea garden has become a popular tourist destination. With the permission of the authorities, one can walk freely in the garden.

Bus, Train or Air- Using any of these 3 routes you have to come to Sylhet first from Dhaka. After that, you can easily go to Malnichhara tea garden by riding a rickshaw or CNG from anywhere in the city.

These 10 popular places to visit Bangladesh in winter make the cold nature extremely enjoyable for the travelers of Bangladesh. But this joy can backfire if proper precautions are not taken.

At the time of starting the journey, it is necessary to take warm clothes with you. Apart from this, some first aid like Dettol, Savlon, Bandage and cotton should be kept along with the medicines. A well-planned advance can make a trip safer.
