Due to the Corona situation, the Kolkata International Book Fair is facing uncertainty this time. This year’s book fair is scheduled to start on January 26 and end on February 9. Through this, this book fair is going to enter its 46th year. Bangladesh was made the theme country of this year’s Calcutta Book Fair around the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. And for that purpose this year’s book fair was organized extensively.
Sudhanshu Shekhar, general secretary of the Publishers and Book Sellers Guild, the organizing body of the Kolkata Book Fair, has raised the issue of uncertainty in this year’s book fair.
Sudhanshu Shekhar Dey said, ‘We are also in uncertainty. Corona has not yet left our state and country. The state government has not said anything about the book fair now. But our hopes are not over yet. It is also true that on the direction of the Calcutta High Court, the state government took strict measures to prevent the spread of corona around Durga Puja in West Bengal. The Durga mandap was closed to the public on the orders of the High Court. Only Durga Darshan was arranged from a distance. But the book fair cannot be like that. ‘
