According to a report in the BBC, Mark Asper has a public feud with Trump. The announcement came because of him. Several defense ministers have served in the Trump administration before. Trump fired them if they disagreed.
Meanwhile, Trump has appointed Christopher Miller as the new Secretary of Defense. Miller was reportedly the head of the U.S. Counterterrorism Center.
After losing the US election, Trump will remain in power until January 20 next year. He fired another defense minister.
