The Muslim-majority country, the United Arab Emirates, on Saturday announced reforms to Islamic law to attract foreign investors. In the wake of this, restrictions on unmarried boys and girls living together and drinking have been relaxed in the country.
The UAE has had its own Islamic law for so long. However, many changes have come in the new law. Citizens 21 years of age or older can now buy, sell and drink alcohol. With that unmarried men and women can live together.
Authorities say the initiative is part of an effort to improve law and order and create an environment for greater investment from around the world. In addition, the incident of honor killing has been brought under the crime and legal action has been announced against it.
