Temporary COVID-19 hospital built in three weeks in Bangladesh

Specialized hospitals for COVID-19 infected patients are also being set up in Bangladesh. Earlier, the Chinese authorities had built a hospital in Wuhan in ten days. But this hospital in Dhaka is in 21 days. The infrastructure had already been built and only beds and accessories have been installed.

Although the Bashundhara Group, a private organization, is allowed to use their land and infrastructure, the government of Bangladesh is doing the main work of building the hospital. Bashundhara Group’s Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan offered to the government to use modern and well-equipped Bashundhara convention centers temporarily with a humanitarian responsibility.

The country’s largest COVID-19 hospital is being built in four Bashundhara convention centers and an exhibition tent at the ICCB-International Convention City Bashundhara next to the Bashundhara residential area in Dhaka.

They had temporarily allowed the government to use about 2.5 lakh square feet of land to build the temporary hospital. Although there are more than 2,000 beds, emergency ICU units and ventilation facilities for COVID-19 patients have not yet been added. The Department of Health has already appointed a director to run the temporary hospital.
