Subject: Application for MSc in Tropical and International Forestry
Dear Authority,
I hereby would like to express my motivation for studying in Tropical and International Forestry with this letter. I have done my Masters in Disaster Management from “University Name” and Bachelor degree in Agriculture from “University Name”.
I want to build my future career as a climate change specialist to shape resiliency in coastal areas. I wish to work with the marginalized peoples closely and interest to act as a change maker in their poor living condition. This MSc programme will be a great opportunity for me to advance my knowledge bank in this regard. I aim to act as a motivator in the pathways of marginalized peoples dream by utilizing my entire skills to contribute in sustainable development globally.
I am citizen of Bangladesh which is prone to frequent attack of disaster. Here, I have worked in urban and rural areas as a disaster manager and agriculturist. During working as midline surveyor with Save the Children Bangladesh in urban slum areas I have realized the importance of coastal afforestation and agro forestry in coastal zones of Bangladesh. The reason of migration in urban informal settlements mostly for losing everything during disaster, lack of work in lean seasons and poverty. This is immensely important to increase resiliency in coastal areas through afforestation and introducing the possibility of agroforestry in south west regions of Bangladesh.
I have written a number of research papers in international journals focusing on Climate change and agriculture topics. The researches explores the impact of climate change in urban slums and introduces chemical alternatives in agriculture field. Some of my notable publications are-
Climate Change Effect in Physical and Natural Capital: A Study on Urban Poor in Dhaka City of Bangladesh;
Effect of Storage Duration and Storage Devices on Seed Quality of Boro Rice Variety BRRI dhan47;
I am very concerned about climate change issues. I write articles focusing on agricultural development and climate change in daily English newspapers and blogs. Some of my popular writing in this area are- “Introducing Digital Technologies in Agriculture”, “Sustainable Water Management required”, “Climate Change is Impacting the Urban Poor More”, “Waste can be used as resources”, “What Disaster Management means for Agriculture” etc.
I have expertise in programming language (HTML5, CSS), editing software (Adobe Photoshop, Power Point, Adobe illustrator) and statistical software (SPSS, MSTAT-C). I have also proficiency in Geographic Information System(GIS) and mapping (ILWIS 3.7, Arc GIS 10.1, OSM, JOSM, Map Digitizing). I have some information websites of my own which I run by myself.
Also I am trying to build a social network for the farmers naming “Digital Farmer”. The main objective of this network is to ensure fair price of farmers and decrease the number of middleman by introducing digital marketing and monitoring system. I am also trying to introduce another social network for women where women will solve their own problems and will be able to utilize their probable efficiencies. I am seeking for fund for these projects and expecting to run these projects completely soon. “Waste can be used as resources”
I dream to achieve all my dreams truthfully. If related authority finds me suitable for this MSc programme with DAAD scholarship, then this opportunity will pull me up a number of steps to catch my dreams. I am hopeful that you will look favorably upon my application by recognizing my enthusiasm.
Thanks for your time.
