Weight gain is related with age. Researchers from the Uppsala University in Sweden and University of Lyon in France have recently done a study on this topic. Researchers say that aging decreases the lipid turnover in fatty tissues, which makes weight gain easier. It is not easy to stop this change even if you are eating less or doing more exercises than before.
In this study, 54 men and women were observed for 13 years. During this time, their weight gain or loss was the subject of researchers observation. Studies show that the lipid turnover from body fat tissue decreases with age. People who are not aware of low-calorie intake with age can gain up to 20 percent of their weight. If you remain aware as you get older, your weight may increase too in that case you need to increase daily exercises.
Researchers also examined the lipid turnover rate of 41 women who had bariatric surgery. They want to see how lipid turnover rates affect to lose weight for four to seven years after surgery. The results showed that those who had lower rates before surgery were able to increase lipid turnover and keep weight down.
In this regard, Peter Arner, professor at the Department of Medicine in Huddinge at Karolinska Institutet, told the Science Daily, “This research can open up new avenues for the treatment of weight gain.
In this study it is clear that the best way to speed lipid turnover in fat tissue is to exercise more with age. Moreover, to achieve long-term results from weight loss surgery one should increase the rate of exercise.
