Beware, malware is spreading through Google search engine! Cyber security firm SecureWorks has found malware named ‘Bumblebee’ in various advertisements on Google search engine. According to the researchers of the company, the harmful malware enters the user’s device only by clicking on the malicious advertisement in the Google search engine. It then secretly collects important files, personal photos or videos of users along with financial transaction information and sends them to cybercriminals.
According to SecureWorks, the malware-laden ads usually lure users to download various popular software, including ChatGPT, Zoom software. Clicking on those ads will launch websites modeled after the websites of various organizations. Clicking on software download links on fake websites will introduce harmful malware to users’ devices.
Mike McLellan, director of SecureWorks, said that only one percent of ads on the Google search engine were found to contain such harmful malware. He advised the users to use the main website of the software manufacturer or various organizations to be safe from malware attacks.
