The position is part of the project ‘Freedom of movement and social policy in historical and international comparison’ funded by the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. The research will explore the relationship between free movement and social assistance across federations. The student will be working in a group of 4 researchers.

Eligibility:
- Excellent undergraduate and graduate (master level) degree (preferably Political Science, but graduates from other relevant disciplines, such as American Studies, History and Sociology are also considered).
- Knowledge of the American political system
- Interest and knowledge of migration and welfare state research
- Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills in English.
- Excellent intercultural communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Other requirements:
Starting date is 1 December 2019. The employment contract (German pay scale E13 TV-L, 66%, 3 years) will be arranged by the administration of the University of Tübingen. Salary/ Benefits: Annual salary is commensurate with experience starting from approximately 30.300 Euro.
