The Corona pandemic is far from over: World Health Organization

The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that the coronavirus pandemic is far from over. The Organization has expressed concern about the growing trend of the virus in Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America and several countries in Asia. On Monday (April 26th), the head of the agency, Tedros Adhanom Gabriasis, said he was “deeply concerned” that the pandemic had disrupted normal health care, especially children’s health.

The coronavirus, which spread from the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, has infected more than three million people worldwide. According to researchers at Johns Hopkins University in the United States, the number of people infected with the virus stood at 3,064,823 as of 9:03 am Bangladesh time on Tuesday. Of these, 2 lakh 11 thousand 607 people have died. And 9 lakh 22 thousand 389 people have recovered.

Strict lockdowns have been imposed in various parts of the world to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Several countries have recently begun to relax the lockdown in anticipation of the economic crisis. The head of the World Health Organization warned in such a situation.

On Monday, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Gabriasis said, “We have a long way to go and a lot of work to do.” He said there was a shortage of antidotes for other diseases in 21 countries as borders were closed due to severe lockdowns to prevent the Corona pandemic. “It cannot be allowed to happen, we are working with countries to provide assistance,” he said, fearing that the number of malaria cases in sub-Saharan Africa could double.
