The most populous city of United States, the City of New York is already facing a high impact of global warming which is threatening for future. A group of researcher from Cornell University examined that summers in New York will be more uncomfortable in coming days which will increase the number of heat related sicknesses also.
According to the researchers, Since 1970, the average temperature in New York has been rise 2 degrees Fahrenheit . Winter season shows more dramatic changes of warming weather here. Human activities like burning fossil fuels are the main causes behind this rising temperature. The added CO2 in atmosphere creates more heat which increases the number of extreme climatic events. Before hundred years, the level of CO2 in atmosphere became increased due to industrial revolution which is now 40% greater than before due to carbon emission.
Since 1970, the average temperature in New York has been rise 2 degrees Fahrenheit. The climate change impacts directly on farm activities also. Sustainable agriculture is needed to implement in this regard where land use policy and agriculture policy should be monitored. According to Government officials, due to high temperature the heat induced crop will become more vulnerable where frequent disaster risks will make the losses extreme.
To combat with the global warming extreme effects, the state officials in New York adopting Climate Smart Communities program. The program inspires the people to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and increases reliance on renewable sources of energy. There is no other way to hide from climate change impacts if carbon emissions cannot be stopped in New York. The increasing rate of Greenhouse gases in atmosphere is increasing gradually. This increasing rate is alarming not only for New York people but also for people in worldwide. People should search for alternatives of fossil fuels to minimize the high climatic effect.
