What to Do If Water Breaks During Pregnancy

Usually amniotic membrane rupture or water rupture occurs after labor pains arise. If for any reason the amniotic fluid or amniotic fluid is released before the membrane is ruptured, it is called premature rupture of the membrane. This is a common problem during pregnancy, which many people are worried about.

Mistakes

If excess water is excreted through the menstrual canal during pregnancy, most pregnant women catch it, it is baby water — amniotic fluid. But in fact such an idea may be wrong. Many times this can happen for many reasons. Without it, even if urine comes out, it may feel like amniotic fluid.

Vaginal secretion increases a lot during pregnancy. As a result, many people mistakenly think that even this normal secretion is amniotic fluid.

Test

If you take a good history of the patient at this time, you can get an idea whether the membrane was actually ruptured or not. This will usually cause a lot of water to come out at once and the petticoat or clothes to get wet. In addition, the face of the uterus can be confirmed by speculum examination. But an ultrasonogram can tell you how much amniotic fluid there is. There is no definite information on whether membrane rupture has taken place.

The result

If this happens early in pregnancy, it is usually considered an abortion. And if the baby has a few days left to mature, the patient has to wait in the hospital bed rest until the baby matures. In the meanwhile, if any symptoms of labor pain or infection are seen, it is not possible to have that pregnancy regularly. The mother was kept under 24-hour observation when the water broke at the end of pregnancy. In 80 to 90 percent of cases, labor pains go up. If there is no pain, induction (starting labor pain with medication) is also possible.

Caution

Amniotic fluid rupture or water rupture is an urgent problem during pregnancy. This is because the membrane protects the fetus from external germs. So in case of membrane rupture the patient has to stay clean using sterile pads, antibiotics are started. At the same time amniotic fluid and urine tests are done to see if there are any signs of infection. Because various infections can also cause membrane rupture.

Therefore, pregnant women should immediately inform the nearest doctor if any signs of water breakage appear.
