South African Nel-Peters is the Miss Universe 2017

66th Miss Universe pageant become the South African Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters.

The event of Miss Universe 2017 was held on 26th November, 2017 in Las Vegas, United States. At the end of the ceremony, Iris Mitaneren crowned Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters. Contestants of 92 countries participated in this year’s competition.

Demi-Leigh Nell-Peters was born on 28 June 1995. She became Miss Universe from South Africa for the second time. Earlier, in 1978 Margaret Gardiner became the Miss Universe from South Africa for the first time.

Her sister, Franje, has physical disability and Nel-Peters believes that her sister plays and motivates the most significant role of her life. Nel-Peters received a degree in business management from Northwest University. She is fluent in both English and African languages.

In the final round, Steve Harvey asked Nel-Peters that, “What quality do you think you are proud of, and how do you apply that quality to Miss Universe?”, In her answer she said:

“Miss Universe should confident herself as an individual. Miss Universe is a woman who has overcome many fears, and by this she can help other women to overcome their fears. ”

Nel-Peters said during a segment of Miss Universe that she wants to help women through her self-defense workshop.
