How much sweets should a diabetic patient eat?

Diabetes is a disease of blood sugar metabolism. As a result, as soon as diabetes is diagnosed, the person’s intake of sugary foods (sugar, molasses, sweets, sweet foods, sweet fruits) is first controlled. Sometimes omitted. Because in this case, the patient’s blood sugar increases and hyperglycemia can lead to serious complications such as diabetic ketoacidosis or hyperosmolar non-ketotic coma, which mainly occurs in uncontrolled diabetes.

And before you can say that diabetes is under control, you must keep your blood sugar under control. But the question remains. And that is – diabetic person can not eat sweets or sugar? Of course you can. However, eating sweet or sugary foods depends on how well you control your blood sugar or diabetes.

♦ If your blood sugar is under super control i.e. taking regular medication, following a moderate diet and doing regular daily walking or exercise. But occasionally you can have a serving of sweets or sugary foods. But there is no point in eating this sweet food instead of any other carbohydrate or sugary food. And if you can eat without replacing, take an extra 20-30 minutes walk that day.

♦ And those who are taking insulin, the benefits are a little more. On days when sweet food is to be eaten more, you can increase the dose of insulin before meal by one unit. Or instead of rice or bread, eat winter pita or sweet or dessert. Don’t forget to eat more vegetable-salad and fish-meat portion with it.

♦ Meat can be eaten with winter chitai pitha, roti, rice flour roti but easily instead of midday and night rice and roti. Keep the rest of the food on the plate as before.
